The General search option allows to query any text field available from the current database (i.e. fields having code starting with the letter E as well as the description fields, click here for more information about fields available for this database). Other fields could be queried using the Advanced searching option.
Type in the text to query and click on the 'Search' button below.
It's also possible to perform 'basic' joined queries using the 'AND' or 'OR' separators (only one at the same time). For example, 'beer OR wine', 'beer AND wine'.'beer AND (wine OR champagne)' is not possible here but can be done in the Advanced searching option. For more information on how to perfom Advanced queries, click here.
Note: databases having large numbers of text fields could be slow using this General search option.
The Search Record Identifier option allows to query the text identifier of a given record. For strains databases, this is usually the strain number (example, 'CBS 14', 'CBS 8803'). For species databases, this usually the species name.Type in the Identifier to query and click on the 'Search' button below.
It's also possible to perform 'basic' joined queries using the 'AND' or 'OR' separators (only one at the same time). For example, 'CBS 14 OR CBS 8803').

When several names are found, they will be displayed in the list below and one will have to click on the wanted name from the list to obtain the associated records. with the third option, it's also possible to perform 'basic' joined queries using the ''OR' separator. For example, 'Candida albicans OR Candida dubliniensis'.
